Inspiration can come from all places; fashion, architecture, books, magazines, galleries, and social media. Instagram is a great platform because it’s visual and creatives are typically visual people. In this Idea Lab at SALT17 Tour, Experience Director, Nick Rivero, gives you some creative Instagram accounts you should start following today. [check out video below]
@CREATIVEMORNING

Depending on your location these meet ups have been known to have speakers like the founders of the Cartoon Network all the way to hometown designers.
@ADAFRUIT
The next creative Instagram account I want to share is on the more technical side of things. Adafruit is all about DIY, open source, and different technologies. One of the best things they do is in their Instagram posts. Here they share tons of tutorials on how to do things yourself. They have tutorials on everything from creating your own LED light-up sneakers to 3D printing your own Gameboy. So if you are technically inclined follow their Instagram for a plethora of inspiration.
@DESIGN.BOT
If you are looking for straight design inspiration @design.bot is a great source for beautiful inspiration. Graphic and print design is a great area to find all sorts of stylistic inspiration and @design.bot does a great job of curating good design.
@FELIPEPANTONE
The next creative Instagram I would suggest is an artist named, Philippe Pantone. He is a painter that does some incredible murals that have an 80s computer style to them. His paintings are found world wide and I am simply blown away with his talent and his use of perspective to make amazing art.
@GREENSTAGING
If you are looking for some stage design inspiration you need to check out, Jordan Green. Jordan runs Green Staging and has some amazing stage designs that he has curated into his Instagram feed. Some of his ideas include using ping pong balls, florescent tubes, string art, plywood and screws.
@HYBYCOZO
If you are a lighting designer then I suggest you follow @hybycozo. This group makes laser cut lanterns that once lit project very cool patterns. They have curated all of this inspiration in their Instagram feed for everyone to check out.
@IIKIT
Another artist that you should follow is @IIKIT. This artist has been a big inspiration for me in my stage designs. Instead of paint, this artist uses video, projection and LED to create some really unique things.
@PROJMAPCENTRAL
This is a curated site of artists, from all around the world, that use video projection to transform all sorts of different surfaces. Their Instagram feed is full of inspiration from all things projection mapping.
@RAMAWORKS
Another area where I think we can find great design is in industrial design. I believe this can be a huge piece of your design inspiration and one of my favorite Instagram profiles is @ramaworks. This guy creates what I call “geeky” and cool industrial pieces that he actually makes and ultimately sells.
@wearetundra
The next creative Instagram account you need to follow is @wearetundra. They identify themselves and creators of audiovisual experiences and they DO create immersive sound and light experiences that will blow your mind. One of the reasons I love Tundra is their amazing ability to take very traditional lights and make incredible art with them.
@wearevariable
The last Instagram account you need to follow is a group called Variable. This group is a film company that identifies themselves first as collaborative storytellers. From this perspective they have crafted some very unique films for brands like Gap Kids, Audi, and Nike.
